Season's Greeting HLINks banner

As we approach Christmas and the New Year, we share our top highlights and look back at some of the most popular resources from 2023. We also have a surprise announcement!

  • Commencement of the Older People’s Housing Taskforce. We are delighted that Housing LIN's CEO, Jeremy Porteus was appointed to the Taskforce that was set up to look at how we can provide better choice, quality and security of housing for older people, including how to address regional disparities in supply of appropriate and where necessary specialised housing (the report is due out next year).

  • Housing LIN commissioned as Secretariat for the latest APPG Inquiry into Regenerating Outdated Sheltered Housing looking at how best to regenerate our existing supply of outdated sheltered housing – from modernisation and extensions to repurposing and replacing older stock and service models – for 21st century standards (the report is due out in Summer 2024).

  • As TAPPI 2 draws to a close (we’ll be publishing our final findings plus a toolkit of practical resources early in the new year), we wanted to reflect on the useful resources and awareness we’ve generated over the past 18 months. Read on here!

  • We also celebrate other sharing and learning activities that have taken place over the year, including delivering 20 HAPPI Hour webinars, with over 3000 registrations, and publishing 47 informative and inspiring blogs from leading figures in the housing, health and social care sectors.

Our top 10 housing with care resources include a selection of publications published by the Housing LIN as well as those we were pleased to release in association with partner organisations.

Ian Copeman, Business Director at Housing LIN, said:

“We are delighted to have worked with the LDAHN to undertake this research. We look forward to the work of the LDAHN and their partners leading to more people having their own home.”

The 9 actions set out in this guide are drawn from engagement with all councils in the south west of England and informed by local and national good practice examples, resources and tools.

To celebrate this year’s International Day of Older Persons (IDOP), we were delighted to share Housing LIN’s sponsor, United St Saviours Charity’s recent inspirational achievement, Appleby Blue.

Flipping the conventional model of the almshouse as a retreat from society, Appleby Blue enables its residents to remain active members of a thriving, intergenerational and diverse London community.
