News Highlights
Inside Housing Development Awards 2025 shortlist announced

Over 30 schemes ranging from extra care housing, retirement living, supported housing, cohousing and intergenerational housing have been shortlisted for the Healthy Homes and/or Supported Housing categories in this year’s Inside Housing Development Awards.
They include two schemes featured as Housing LIN case studies: Phoenix Community Housing’s Melfield Gardens by Levitt Bernstein architects and Hazelmead, Bridport Cohousing by Barefoot architects, also recently crowned the winner of winners at the 2025 Housing Design Awards.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony on 25 November 2025.
Call for evidence from APPG Inquiry into Creating Intergenerational Communities

Earlier this year, the APPG on Housing and Care for Older People launched an Inquiry into ‘Creating Intergenerational Communities,’ co-chaired by Lord Best and Anna Dixon MP. Three sessions have so far gathered insights from practitioners and residents.
Now at its mid-point, the Inquiry is calling for evidence from those involved in or living in intergenerational communities. Submissions should cover design features, benefits, challenges, and lessons learned to inform practical recommendations for policymakers, developers, and housing providers.
Please email your evidence to research@housinglin.org.uk by Friday, 17 October 2025.

This is covered in Who Doesn’t Think About Financial Security When Designing Urban Environments for Older People?, a chapter in a new book on Society and Technology.
