Although this is the final edition of HLINks before we take our summer break for August, things are not slowing down at the Housing LIN! After celebrating our most recent graduates of the Future Leaders programme, last week we were excited to welcome a fresh batch of 21 new faces to the first sesssion of our 6th cohort. Latest Future Leaders programme commences
We are pleased to announce that the 6th cohort of the Future Leaders programme, supported by Sovereign Network Group, kicked off this week in London.
21 early career professionals from all parts of the UK were treated to presentations from SNG’s People Director, Hannah Gibson, and Neighbourly Labs’ co-founder, Harry Hobson, with both sharing their own personal stories on leadership.
New Prevention, Housing & Technology Commission launched
Our Chief Executive, Jeremy Porteus, was in Manchester last week for the launch of the new TSA Housing Commission, chaired by Warren Heppolette, Director of Prevention, Greater Manchester Combined Authority. Supported by Tunstall Healthcare, the commission will be engaging stakeholders to cocreate a ‘blueprint’ that puts people first in powering preventative technology-enabled care in social housing.
Brunelcare recruiting for a new Chair of Trustees
Bristol-based charity Brunelcare has an exciting opportunity to become its new Chair of Trustees and lead the organisation into its next chapter. The charity is keen to hear from individuals with significant senior leadership experience, ideally within the housing, social care, health, regulated services or wider charity governance.

The Depot, South Manchester - A neighbourhood approach to intergenerational living
Written by David Coulson of Buttress Architects, this new Housing LIN Case Study (No.182) demonstrates how a large-scale residential development, such as The Depot in South Manchester, can embed intergenerational living within a mainstream neighbourhood.
Webinar recording: Building Health into Homes: how occupational therapy can unlock the connection between housing and health
Our most recent HAPPI Hour webinar spotlighted the Building Health into Homes project, exploring practical approaches to creating homes that are safe and accessible and the ways that occupational therapists (OTs) can ensure that housing is designed, built and adapted to enable people to live well.
Speakers from the RCOT, Foundations and The Occupational Therapy Service discussed how the project's resources have been developed, and shared insights from the strategic report and toolkits.
GLA publishes Draft London Plan
The GLA have outlined the draft vision for London’s homes, healthy places and infrastructure. It includes vital sections on ensuring mainstream and specialist housing choice for those with accessibility requirements is available in meeting the needs of disabled and older Londoner's and ensuring a genuinely inclusive city.
The plan includes a table (Table 3.7, available on our site as a separate PDF) of minimum new supply of social housing provided for local authorities to address local needs.
The Longest Wait to Leave
Age UK's new report, ‘The Longest Wait to Leave’, shows how delayed discharge is driving pressure across the health and care system, contributing to longer waits, corridor care and poorer outcomes for older people. It highlights the importance of practical, community-based support in helping older people leave hospital safely, recover well at home and avoid unnecessary readmission.
