Call for evidence by APPG Inquiry on the regeneration of outdated sheltered housing

The APPG Inquiry into Regeneration of Outdated Sheltered Housing has made a call for evidence about sheltered/retirement housing in the social and private sector including from a range of tenures, social rent, affordable rent, leasehold, sale and shared ownership.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, 23rd February 2024

Have your say - Survey on disabled people in the housing sector

The Levelling Up, Housing and Communities Committee has launched an online survey for its inquiry looking at what Government can do to ensure disabled people have access to accessible and adaptable housing in England.

Deadline for submission is: 5pm on Friday, 15 February 2024.

Accessible housing to be showcased with new industry award

Horizon Housing Association has developed a new award for ‘Excellence in Accessibility and Inclusion’ that will form part of this year’s Scottish Home Awards, sponsored by Ross & Liddell.

The award recognises best practices in creating accessible and inclusive housing in a new development or retrofit project. It is hoped that entries will showcase the diversity of work taking place across the sector to build and reconfigure homes to market-leading levels.

To produce this review, Research in Practice and Social Care Future brought together groups of people with different experiences of social care, working together to discuss issues related to social care that are important to them, while reflecting on and interpreting related research.

Produced in five sections, each containing resources, research and commentary that explore and support a key change, alongside action and reflective points, the review is structured around the five key changes that Social Care Future sees are needed in social care to unlock an equal life.

New House of Lords Committee Inquiry report puts spotlight on healthy places

This House of Commons Committee report makes a number of recommendations to government on preventative measures that can contribute to healthy placemaking, including in relation to housing conditions, healthy homes, health promotion and integrated care, town planning and tacking wider health inequalities in the built environment. The Government has two months to respond.
