Understanding Wales’ Ageing Population: Key Statistics

Older people are often under-represented in many data sources, which causes difficulties when trying to identify the issues and barriers that may prevent us from ageing well.

This is why the Commissioner has created a resource that brings together key statistics, evidence and research to provide an overview of people’s experiences of growing older in Wales.

This information will enable policy- and decision-makers to better understand the challenges older people may be facing, and the action and policies needed to ensure that older people are valued, rights are upheld and no-one is left behind.

The document will be updated regularly to ensure that the most up-to-date information is available to support change and improvements throughout Wales.
