Northampton Place
Slough, Hanover

Description of Scheme

Northampton Place is comprised of fifty-six extra care flats for independent living, forty-seven of which have one bedroom and nine two bedrooms.

Tenants can also enjoy a communal restaurant, reading room, guest suite, TV room, shop and faith areas. The building occupies the site of a former swimming pool and the watery history of the site is echoed in a large mural in the atrium in the residents' lounge.

The generic form is that of a three storey courtyard block with the sides varying in height and depth. On the South, the building is single storey allowing the courtyard to feel bright and open and on the North the accommodation is single banked to prevent overlooking neighbours' gardens. On the East, it rises to five storeys, meeting the scale of the adjacent school.

The building is fitted with technological features for the convenience, safety and security of the tenants. These include a telephone entry system which is linked to the television in individual flats, BT aerial points and a pull cord and pendant to summon on site staff if required.

Northampton Place has tiled roofs and walls of red Berkshire brick with contrasting rendered bay windows creating facades which are sympathetic to the surrounding environment. Residents can enjoy the use of the central courtyard area and communal gardens.

Where Is It?

The town has three shopping centres and a high street, all offering a host of well-known brands. Great bus and rail services together with ample parking, make Slough an convenient and easy shopping venue - 7 days a week.
