Overview & Agenda
This insightful HAPPI Hour webinar, hosted in partnership with The Almshouse Association, explored the evolving role of almshouses in the 21st century.
Building on the findings and recommendations of the Older People’s Housing Taskforce, this session delves into the recent Almshouse Association Research Workshop, which examined almshouses as ‘anchor institutions’ and their enduring role over centuries. We also look ahead, discussing how almshouses can continue to thrive as a sustainable, affordable housing solution for generations to come.
Additionally, we feature presentations on innovative almshouse developments in Cambridgeshire, showcasing contemporary designs and the critical success factors that benefit both residents and local communities. This will include Girton Town Charity’s Dovehouse Court, a recent RIBA East award winner, and More's Meadow almshouse in Great Shelford, as featured in this Housing LIN case study.
