The Chancellor’s Budget has announced an additional £1.5 billion to boost council housing/affordable homes development. The money will be allocated via the 2026-2036 Social and Affordable Homes (SAHP) raising the total capital pot over the next 10 years to over £40 billion.

The London Assembly Housing Committee met this week to examine whether London's homes are ready for an ageing population. It heard evidence on how well existing housing meets older people's needs, the challenges of adapting homes to support independent living, and whether enough specialist housing is being provided to these groups.

The Supported Housing Advisory Panel’s initial advice to ministers has finally been published. The advice looks at how assessments of local need for supported housing can be improved, give commissioners a stronger role in shaping provision, and make sure local supported housing strategies actually lead to more housing being delivered.

Launched to coincide with Supported Housing Week, the new Housing LIN regional forum brought together for the first time a selection of specialist affordable housing and general needs housing providers who manage care and support across the West and East Midlands to discuss operational pressures and explore strategic priorities.
