Welcome to TAPPI Cast, our weekly update on the 'Technology for our Ageing Population: Panel for Innovation' (TAPPI) project which aims to improve the way technology is used in housing and care for older people. Includes updates from our 6 Testbeds, Resources and Events of interest.

View the latest copy of TSA's Industry Magazine, TEC Voice (opens new window), which includes TSA's own news and wider industry stories, including TAPPI updates. This month, the magazine (p. 5-7) reflects how over the past 18 months, the project's six TAPPI testbeds have made great strides in using technology to support older residents. As the programme draws to a close, they asked each organisation about their successes, any surprises and how they’ll be putting their learnings into practice. Read on here! (opens new window)

Updates from our Testbeds:

This week saw Bield showcase our new co-produced digital education videos.  We have taken the learnings from our co-produced approach to TAPPI and how this can be implemented across other departments to strengthen tenant involvement.

What is Telecare? Ultimate Guide to Telecare

We're pleased to collaborate with Appello to bring you this Ultimate Guide to Telecare, an introduction to the fundamentals of telecare, with information on how housing providers can maximise their care and support offer so people can enjoy a greater quality of life.

The guide (the first of 4 being jointly released) is aimed at housing providers and other organisations who want to deliver telecare services that enrich the lives of older people, while ensuring you make the most of your investment in the technology.

Wiltshire has one of the country’s fastest-growing older populations. Nearly 22% of everyone living here is 65 or over: the average in England is 18.6%. We are also one of three councils in the South West with an older population that grew by more than 30% in the last decade.

Residents living longer is wonderful news. But we also want to ensure they spend their later years in good health, doing the things they love, in the places they call home.

Wiltshire Council set up a reablement service to support its growing older population. Helen Henderson shares insights into what has been learned with other local authorities who face similar demands
