This report by Professor Michael Marmot’s Institute of Health Equity (IHE) at University College London examines the role housing can play in reducing health inequalities in Northumberland.

It outlines work that IHE has conducted with the Northumberland County Council Partnership to reduce health inequalities health through improvements to housing.

Specifically, from rural to coastal communities, the report sets out recommendations to improve the supply of affordable housing, needs assessments, decent, safe and sustainable homes, and accessible and adaptable homes for vulnerable and older adults.
