Published by Learning Disability England, Good Lives: Building Change Together is a framework that brings together people’s thoughts and ideas about what it will take for everyone with learning disabilities to be able to live their good life.
This document articulates clearly what people they have engaged with say they want and need to live well, highlights the challenges that currently exist and offers some hopeful examples where these have been overcome. It has 6 chapters:
- A Home
- Communication and staying connected
- The right support
- To love and be loved
- Effective voice-Self advocacy/Advocacy
- Employment and contribution
The aim of the document is to develop something that local people can use as a template for how they go about changing things for the better. It may also be seen as a starting point for a new national policy that Learning Disability England hope will emerge over the next few years.
