Extra care housing grant

The Welsh Government previously had an extra care housing capital programme.

In 2006, it published guidelines for the then £50m, 3 year programme (2006-2009). The guidelines for developing extra care housing in Wales are now available. (opens new window)

In 2009, announced a further £7m for extra care housing as part of a wider £40m capital programme. The accompanying housing association circular (opens new window) referred back to the 2006 guidelines.

In 2011, the Welsh Government made a further £1m available to speed up development of extra care housing. However, since then, the development of extra care housing has been subsumed into the wider Social Housing Grant arrangements (see above item) providers and/or developers have sought other forms of public and private capital investment, including the Welsh Infrastructure Investment Plan and Welsh Housing Bond.
