Commissioning Services for People with a Learning Disability: Good Practice Guidance (Wales)

This good practice guidance was developed for the National Commissioning Board for Wales to help Regional Partnership Boards to develop their own approaches to the integrated commissioning of services for people with a learning disability.

It supports Regional Partnership Boards to follow the principles underpinning the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 in terms of starting from the point of helping individuals to lead an ordinary life with dignity, and co-producing appropriate solutions to help the individual and their family achieve the outcomes important to them.

On the housing front, it recognises that people with a learning disability can live successfully in different types of housing. They can cope with the full range of tenures including home ownership. It also mentions that there is a need to increase the use of assistive technology to support people to live as independently as possible.
