Moorlands Court
Northolt,
Hanover
Description of Scheme
It was built on the site of a hard to let Sheltered Housing Scheme. After exhaustive search the Council could not identify a better site and the decision was therefore taken to close down this scheme and develop the site for Extra Care.
A Government Grant was obtained to upgrade the level of renewable energy from water and sunlight that is used in the central heating system.
There are 17 flats for frail older people, 13 for older people who have a dementia and 5 for older people who have a learning disability.
Approximately 25 older people living outside the scheme attend the visiting hairdresser; Visitors to the scheme can have a meal (at a small cost); and Older Adults living in the community are invited to participate in activities and social events.

- improve the quality of homes lived in by older people
- address the housing needs of a diverse older population
The full Housing Strategy 2009-2014 examines proposals for addressing the main issues including the expected increase in the older population of 45% by 2031.
