The lack of suitable supported accommodation and speedy hospital discharge has resulted in significant number of older people prematurely placed in residential care. The additional extra care flats would begin to address these issues and provide a better alternative for many people with low to moderate levels of dementia.

The scheme caters for dementia sufferer resulting in mild to moderate impairment

• Wheelchair Accessible- 8 flats including wet floor in bathrooms
• Introduction of Telecare Technologies

There is a lunch club which is mainly for tenants but some of the social activities are open to the local community.

The surrounding area is predominantly Victorian terrace housing.

Residents Information

This is an existing scheme that was upgraded and tenants were apprehensive in having the works done. Tenants who were able to transfer into the wheelchair accessible flat reported that they are enjoying a better standard and quality of life.

Local shops, GP, pharmacist are all walking distance from the scheme
