Dashwood Court
Hounslow, Thames Valley Housing Association Ltd

Description of Scheme

Dashwood Court has been established since 1985, prior to applying to the DH ECH Fund, hot food provided to residents was provided via Meals on Wheels, and a hairdressing facility was offered weekly from a room not suitable for its use. The desire to provide better and more appropriate facilities to Hounslow Residents was the reason behind the bid for funding.

The client groups catered for at Dashwood Court are predominantly frail older people and those with dementia. People with a physical, learning and sensory disability are also currently supported if meeting the criteria for entry Dashwood Court.

A number of the residents have tea together every afternoon and a tea/coffee party is held on a monthly basis.

Relevant Local Strategy

To develop an integrated rehabilitation and intermediate care strategy, this enables older people to remain independent for as long as possible.

To develop a range of services aimed at preventing the onset on ill health in older people thus avoiding the spiralling fall into dependency.

Dashwood Court's development has led to further development in the area - Greenrod place, a 43 flat development, has a mixture of owned and social housing 1 and 2 bedroom properties.
