On Tuesday, 24th June, the Housing LIN and Pozzoni Architecture were delighted to co-host a thought-provoking roundtable on the theme ‘Why Intergenerational Housing Matters’ at Chamber Space, Manchester. Timed to coincide with the Housing 2025 conference, the session brought together a diverse group of professionals committed to shaping more inclusive and connected communities.

We were honoured to be joined by Emily Abbott, Co-Founder of Intergenerational England (of which Housing LIN is a proud steering group member) and panel member of the APPG on Housing and Care for Older People’s Inquiry, who opened the discussion with an insightful presentation on the origins and mission of Intergenerational England. Her contribution sparked lively and constructive conversation around the social value of age-inclusive communities and the development of a sector-wide framework for intergenerational housing.

With expert contributions from housing associations, developers, local government, and ageing specialists, the discussion explored both policy opportunities and design innovations to better connect generations through housing. We are immensely grateful to everyone who attended and shared their expertise so generously.

Special thanks to our partner Pozzoni Architecture and to all participants for making the event a success. We look forward to continuing this important conversation and driving forward collaborative action in this space.
