News: Government publishes 10 Year Health Plan for England

The new 10-Year Health Plan is part of the government’s health mission to build a health service fit for the future.
Published on 3 July, it emphasises 3 priority areas: namely, from hospital to community (creating a Neighbourhood Health Centre in every community), from analogue to digital (including a digital patient record to improve information sharing), and from sickness to prevention (including public health measures and support mental wellbeing).
The Plan does not make any specific reference to housing and says little about adult social care. However, it does recognise the need to shift acute and inpatient services to at-home care and support, supplemented by the use of AI and technology. It also touches on how more integrated approaches to care can improve links with adult social care to aid rehabilitation and intermediate care services.
