New guest blog asks whether "ageing in place" is really the right ambition

In this new Housing LIN guest blog, Elke Ielegems – architect, postdoctoral researcher and valorisation coordinator on the HOUSE research project in Flanders – questions whether "ageing in place" automatically means ageing well.

She argues that the right home is personally meaningful as well as physically suitable, weighing autonomy, identity and belonging alongside accessibility and safety. Because people's health, income, tenure and circumstances differ so widely, Elke suggests there is no single ideal housing model – only diversity, adaptability and genuinely affordable choice.
