  • Appleby Blue Almshouse, Bermondsey, by Witherford Watson Mann for United St Saviour's Charity
  • Burridge Gardens, Wandsworth, by HawkinsBrown for Peabody Housing Association
  • Clement Close, Willesden, by Fraser Brown MacKenna Architects for London Borough of Brent
  • Daventry House, Lisson Grove, Westminster, by Mae for Westminster City Council
  • Grace House, St John’s Wood, by Ryders for Aster Group
  • Harrier Way, Petersfield, by Re-format for McCarthy Stone
  • Harriet Hardy House, Southwark by Mae for the London Borough of Southwark
  • Palace Fields, Halton, by DK architects for The Riverside Group
  • St Ann’s masterplan (includes sheltered housing), Haringey, by Karakusevic Carson Architects for Peabody Housing Association
  • West Malling Integrated Retirement Community, Kent, by RCKa for Retirement Villages Group

Commenting on the announcement, the Housing LIN’s CEO, Jeremy Porteus, stated:

“With a government independent Task Force putting the spotlight on housing for older people, it is great to see that nearly a quarter of all shortlisted applications are exemplar retirement living/extra care housing schemes or larger residential developments or regeneration where a component of the site has been designated for older households. Crucially, whether in specialist or mainstream housing, the age-friendly HAPPI design principles are a common denominator.”

In addition, a couple of supported living schemes have been shortlisted, including:

  • Knoll House, Brighton, by PRP for Brighton and Hove Council, and
  • The Rock, Bury, by Ollier Smurthwaite Architects for Living 21

Details about each shortlisted scheme can be found here (opens new window).

The Housing LIN is also proud to sponsor the HDA’s HAPPI category and we look forward to the judges’ announcement of the winners in early autumn.
