Changing the way government allocates Disabled Facilities Grant funding to local authorities in England

Following the independent review of Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG) in England, published in 2018, the government is now consulting on a new allocation formula to local authorities.

They are consulting on a new approach that will:

  • better support local authorities to meet their statutory duty to provide adaptations
  • ensure funding is better aligned with local demand.

The consultation closes at 11.59pm on 16 September 2025.
