Feedback

  • A great spotlight on this marginalised group and their housing barriers.
  • Insightful data to advance in inclusive design, not only for housing but for 'place making'.
  • An excellent follow up on the report - keeps the momentum flowing.

Overview

This HAPPI Hour celebrated the launch of the Amar Bari, Amar Jibon (My Home, My Life) research report, a landmark study exploring the housing experiences, cultural values and aspirations of older Bangladeshi adults (probin) in East London.

The webinar highlights key findings and stories from the Vivensa Foundation-funded project, unpacking how housing and living arrangements shape health and quality of life in later years, and reflects on the implications for culturally-sensitive housing policy and practice.

Drawing on community voices, research partners – The Open University, Bangla Housing Association and the Housing LIN – and practitioners, we discuss barriers and opportunities to improving housing environments for diverse ageing populations, share lessons on co-production and engagement with marginalised communities, and consider what this research means for inclusive housing strategies locally and nationally.
