Dementia: Finding Housing Solutions

This report from the National Housing Federation and the Dementia Services Development Centre at the University of Stirling, highlights how a range of housing models and services can impact positively on the lives of people with dementia, delaying more intensive forms of care for people with dementia, and preventing admission and readmission to hospital.

Supported by the Housing Learning and Improvement Network and Foundations, the national umbrella body for home improvement agencies (HIAs), case studies from housing associations and HIAS show how these services can:

  • improve health and social care outcomes including increased independence for people with dementia
  • reduce or delay demand for health and social care services for people with dementia
  • improve the rate of diagnosis of dementia, and
  • deliver improved outcomes at a lower cost
