The impact of caring on housing

This report from Carers UK, supported by the Housing LIN, is based on data from the Carers UK 2024 State of Caring survey and highlights some of the challenges faced by unpaid carers in relation to housing.
It provides the data on carers' housing situations, costs and accessible housing from the UK’s most comprehensive regular research into the lives and experiences of unpaid carers.
With a key finding being that over a fifth of carers (21%) say they are struggling to afford their rent or mortgage payments, the report concludes with five recommendations for how the UK Government can support carers to manage their finances, including housing costs.
