Welcome to TAPPI Cast, our weekly update on the 'Technology for our Ageing Population: Panel for Innovation' (TAPPI) project which aims to improve the way technology is used in housing and care for older people.

Groundbreaking research titled "Implementing Technology to Help People Live Really Good Lives," commissioned by the TEC Action Alliance, has recently been released. This study reveals how technology can enhance everyday life, focusing on the expectations and principles individuals hold for Technology Enabled Care. It aligns with the TAPPI principles in many ways, and to TAPPI's commitment to integrating technology in ways that respect personal values, emphasising technology's role in supporting 'gloriously ordinary lives' while upholding dignity and autonomy.

Virgin Media probed over digital switchover rules (opens new window)
Ofcom is investigating Virgin Media over its compliance with rules to protect vulnerable customers during the digital switchover. The telecoms industry is currently changing landline services from analogue to digital. But the regulator has concerns about how it could impact some people, for example those with telecare systems that rely on landlines. Read on here. (opens new window)
