Welcome to TAPPI Cast, our weekly update on the 'Technology for our Ageing Population: Panel for Innovation' (TAPPI) project which aims to improve the way technology is used in housing and care for older people. Includes updates from our 6 Testbeds, Resources and Events of interest.

Updates from our Testbeds:

As part of the #TAPPI Project, residents at Llys Y Werin have been given some training on their recently installed Magic Table.

Everyone took to it really quickly and with darker evenings on the horizon, it's hoped that they will be able to use it to reduce feelings of isolation in the winter months.

Since the table has been in use, the residents have started to socialise more, and have even arranged more regular get togethers.

The Programme Board for TAPPI met last week and discussed the next steps of the project: we are looking at incorporating the LifeCurve App and what other technologies we can showcase in our Digital Hub. In addition, the group approved the use of a third development to test the Anthropos Technology (Coxton Gardens) – this development is a Retirement Housing with Meals so represents a new type of development.

Share your experience of digital exclusion

The use of digital technology across society and our public services has accelerated significantly in recent years, which has created barriers for older people who are not online trying to access services and information, as well as other kinds of amenities.

The Housing LIN is delighted to support this survey commissioned by The Older People's Commissioner for Wales seeking your experiences of digital exclusion. Please submit your response by Friday, 1st September 2023.
