Making Greater Manchester Autism Friendly

Cover GM Autism

Since the Autism Act 2009, and the publication of the first national strategy for autism, progress has been made in improving support for autistic adults.

In line with the strategy, most local authorities now have a dedicated adult diagnosis service and a designated lead for the development of adult autism services. As a result, autistic people are increasingly engaged in planning and designing services.

This strategy aims to make Greater Manchester a place where people can get a timely diagnosis, meet professionals with a good understanding of autism, find services, organisations and employers that make reasonable adjustments when required, and where people can feel safe, have aspirations and fulfil their potential.

This strategy has been developed in partnership with autistic people, their families and practitioners.
