Sheila Mackintosh Research Fellow, University of the West of England

Sheila specialises in issues to do with housing, later life, disability and how people can be helped to remain living independently in their own homes in the community.  Her work includes academic research, policy-related housing studies and hands-on project management.  She has been commissioned by a range of organisations including: central government departments, local authorities, housing associations, national organisations and the independent and voluntary sectors.  Her research includes: how home adaptations are funded and delivered across tenures; the operation of the Disabled Facilities Grant; the provision and allocation of accessible homes; and the importance of including housing issues on the integration agenda as health and social care services become more aligned.
