'What Works' in dementia training and education?: An evaluation

Professor Claire Surr of Leeds Beckett University is leading a study to identify the ingredients for effective education/training for the dementia workforce.

The study is only part-way through but a key finding is that training needs to be relevant to the role, experience and practice of leaners, not one-size-fits-all.

This supports the approach in the housing sector's Making a Start: Dementia - Skilling the general needs housing workforce.

Training also needs to be delivered by skilled, experienced and adaptable trainers who work flexibly to the needs of each group.

Professor Surr has written a blog about the research and presented initial findings at the UK Dementia Congress 2016.
