Urgent and Emergency Care Review Update

NHS England have published an update report on progress made with local commissioners and information on the development of their plans to transform urgent and emergency care services in England. This builds on the 2013 review which placed an emphasis on delivering care in or as close to people's homes. The review pointed out that there were over a 1.2 million avoidable hospital admissions last year and proposed a number of measures to create opportunities for meeting people's urgent care needs closer to home such as: access to right local advice, better community-based treatment solutions and improved care planning following a hospital admission.
