The NHS Long Term Plan
Published in January 2019, this plan by NHS England lays out their vision for the next 10 years of the NHS.
The NHS aims to increase efficiency by focusing on prevention over cure.
Chapter 1 of the plan is titled “We will boost ‘out-of-hospital’ care, and finally dissolve the historic divide between primary and community health services.” and promises to provide more support for hospital discharges, guaranteed NHS support for people living in care homes, and expansions for community health teams, in order to ensure that patients receive “properly joined-up care in the optimal care setting.”
Other pledges in the plan include increases to funding for specialist mental health services for rough sleepers, the development of a new Healthy New Towns standard for developers, and greater integration between social care and health services.
