The Impact of Technology in Adult Social Care Provider Services

This report reviews how providers have been utilising digital technology during the COVID-19 pandemic. It highlights the benefits and barriers providers in England have been experiencing when it comes to using technology.  While not specifically housing related, there are some key findings that care providers will find very interesting. It also recommends that the NHS broadens its digital support and engagement to include homecare, extra care and supported living providers to realise benefits for vulnerable people living in the community.

It points out that the Covid-19 pandemic has, because of infection rates in communal settings, very strongly focussed on care homes. However, there has been a strong commitment from the Department of Health and Social Care to support people to live at home for longer, and to uphold this commitment. In the light of this, it calls for bringing homecare and other supported living or extra care settings into the national conversation around digital integration.
