Surrey Mental Health and Housing Protocol

Mental health services, adult social care, local housing authorities and NHS partners in Surrey have developed this joint protocol to improve outcomes for people with mental health challenges to ensure that no one is left without the support they need.
The protocol, ‘For a Better Life, Where No One is Left behind’, provides a clear framework for early identification of accommodation, health, and support needs to reduce the risk of homelessness, especially during key moments like hospital discharge, eviction risk, environmental health concerns, or safeguarding issues like cuckooing.
This joint commitment spans all 11 Surrey boroughs and districts, Surrey County Council, Surrey and Borders Partnership, and 5 NHS Acute Trusts: Royal Surrey, Ashford and St. Peter’s, East Surrey, Frimley Health, and Epsom and St Helier.
