Retirement Housing 2014 - Residential Research report

The population in the UK is ageing, fast. New research by Knight Frank suggests millions of older people across the UK would consider moving into some sort of retirement housing, but at present, developments allocated as "elderly" or "sheltered" accommodation account for less than 3% of the supply pipeline. This report examines the demand and supply for purpose-built housing for older people across the UK. It includes an exclusive survey into those aged 55 and over, giving insight into how many will consider retirement housing, and what they would look for in such developments. Interestingly, of those interviewed, over 60% expressed a preference for bungalows.
