Reforming adult social care in England

Reforming adult social care in England

This report by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) states that the government is falling short on its promise to “fix the crisis in social care”.

The PAC report questions whether integration is making any difference and highlights that chronic understaffing, rising waiting lists and patchwork funding place are putting sustained pressure on local authorities. It calls for stronger leadership, long-term financial support, and a clear workforce strategy to address key shortfalls in the adult social care sector.

On the housing front, the PAC notes the new oversight measures for supported housing but also observes that reform funding, including the £300m Housing Transformation Fund to support local health and care economies to integrate housing into their local and care strategies had been redirected.
