Out of the cold: Making Energy Efficiency Standards work for older private renters
This report by Independent Age states that older private renters are often living in the oldest, coldest homes, and trapped in fuel poverty.
It highlights that only 1 in 4 older private renters know the EPC rating of their home and calls for guidance to raise awareness and ensure that they understand their rights, as well as know what can be expected of landlords.
The report estimates that half the privately rented homes will need improving to the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) in England and Wales and explores how this can be achieved without causing hardship.
