Learning Disability England Housing Guide

The Learning Disability England Housing Guide is designed to help people with learning disabilities and autistic people think about where they want to live. Written in plain English, it covers choices such as type of residence, ways to pay, and different support arrangements, setting out rights and options in accessible language, alongside real-life stories from people who found the right home for them.

Across 13 sections, the toolkit covers independent living, planning local housing choices, making a personal housing plan, understanding rights when deciding where to live, and the different options available for finding and paying for a home. Later sections look at housing design, who can help with the search, and the quality and legal frameworks that apply.

The guide is intended for use alongside family, friends, social workers or advisers, and is aimed particularly at people receiving Council-funded support, though it will be useful to anyone considering their housing options, including young people and families planning ahead.
