Hope for all ages: Fifty ways to leave the world a better place by 2050

This report by United for All Ages, and a coalition of Changemakers, has come together to produce a vision and a manifesto with 50 ideas for the next 25 years. They are grouped cross 3 common threads: Connection and interdependence, Fairness for all generations, and Thinking big. Furthermore, the report pulls together 5 core themes, including ‘Places for all ages’.
From a housing and built environment perspective, this theme will be of interest to Housing LIN members as it specifically calls for:
- Promoting equivalence through everyday contact
- Neighbourhoods where all ages can create together
- Intergenerational living designed for togetherness Hope for all ages
- Every care provider connected to educational settings
- Valuing shared lives, giving and time together
- Outdoor and indoor spaces boosting age integration
- Intergenerational housing for health and company

It also refers to Suzannah Fishel’s recent Churchill Fellowship report and, with the current APPG on Housing and Care for Older People in mind, reiterates some of United for All Ages' key asks:
- Building at least 300,000 homes a year for the next decade and building to lifetime homes standards, along with a new focus on housing options for older people, and
- Shared spaces in housing developments designed for interaction and mixing
