The new Mayor of London's Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) provides guidance on a wide array of affordable housing-related issues, which broadly fall within three main topics:
- A threshold approach to viability (including increasing affordable housing to 50%;
- Guidance on viability assessments;
- and Build-to-Rent.
Whilst not specifically referring to retirement or extra care housing, the issues set out in the draft SPG will be of interest to developers of affordable specialised housing as well as those seeking to develop more market sale and/or private rented accommodation for older people.
