Delivery and Funding of Housing Support in Scotland - Assessing Costs and Benefits of Typical Services - UK Collaborative Centre For Housing Evidence

Delivery and Funding of Housing Support in Scotland cover

This report from the UK Collaborative Centre for Housing Evidence highlights the crucial role of housing support in Scotland, showing that these services deliver exceptional value for money and life-changing benefits for individuals receiving housing support in different settings.

The research examined two case studies: Hanover Scotland’s very sheltered housing for older people and Frontline Fife’s tenancy sustainment service to support homelessness prevention. Findings show that for every £1 invested, Housing Support generates at least £4.85 in benefits.

The report also demonstrates that housing support is more than just “bricks and mortar” – it sustains tenancies, enables independent living, and prevents costly crises in health and social care. The evidence calls for housing support to be treated as a core public policy priority.

The research was supported by a commissioning consortium, comprising the Housing Support Enabling Unit, Scottish Federation of Housing Associations, Scottish Commission for People with Learning Disabilities, Hanover Scotland, Blackwood Homes and Care, Eildon Housing Association, Simon Community Scotland, and Frontline Fife.
