Building an Age-friendly City Region: Learning from Greater Manchester

Building an Age-Friendly city region COVER

This new report highlights the achievements and learning that have come from the past nine years of partnership work between the Centre for Ageing Better and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) into becoming a leading example in the UK of what it means to adopt age-friendly principles at a regional level.

With a Foreword by Elaine Unegbu, who spoke at the Housing LIN’s Leeds Summit this year, the report chronicles the journey from the establishment of the Greater Manchester Ageing Hub in the GMCA to the present-day age-friendly ecosystem working across the city region to address inequalities in areas including employment, housing, neighbourhoods, health and wellbeing, and transport.

The Housing LIN is also proud to be a member of the GMCA Housing, Planning and Ageing Group referenced in the report under Increasing the availability of affordable, inclusive and decent housing (p27).
