Briefing on Disabled Persons (independent living) Bill

Housing LIN Briefing No5 on the bill that sets out the principles to underpin the delivery of local authority and NHS services and places a duty on each to work with partner agencies to promote independent living and improve outcomes. The definition includes people with a range of physical and mental impairments.

It defines independent living as ensuring that disabled people have the same freedom, choice, dignity and control as others and includes rights to practical assistance and support to participate in society and live an ordinary life.
