Back to the Future: The Next Generation of New Towns

This report by Shelter and the New Economics Foundation argues the government must reinvigorate the publicly-led Development Corporation model to place social housebuilding at the centre of its plans and achieve the social and economic objectives they believe should be at the heart of the new programme.
While there is nothing explicit on housing for an ageing population or planning for intergenerational new town communities, it does include a chapter on the strength of community-led approaches to housing development, including Community Land Trusts. It recognises that they create affordable and inclusive communities, healthy and environmentally sustainable neighbourhoods and social infrastructure, as well as designed to meet a wide range of needs and desires.
