Attendance Allowance, Disability Living Allowance and Extra Care Housing

Please note that Disability Living Allowance has been fully replaced by Personal Independence Payment (PIP) for people aged 16 to 64 from 10 June 2013 for new claims only. From 28 October 2013, the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) started to reassess some existing DLA claimants in phases. View the DWP's quick guide to PIPs here (opens new window).

In the light of the above, we will be refreshing Factsheet No 27 below. This provides information on entitlement to Attendance Allowance and Disability Living Allowance and its application to people using Extra Care Housing. Rates, eligibility rules, application process and the impact on other income and bills where current at the time of writing are described.
