A Guide for Assisted Living: Towards LifeHome 21

This document from the Royal Institute of British Architects was funded by The Technology Strategy Board with contributions from Building Research Establishment and 3DReid Research.

It provides guidance to those who may have to take decisions on the appropriate design, specification, construction and adaptation of ‘assisted living enabled’ buildings.

This group of people will include developers, designers, builders, various consultants, health care workers, designers of health care equipment and the general public who are involved in caring for the elderly or less able.

However considering the wide ranging scope of the document references are made throughout to other more detailed sources of knowledge regarding both physical, technical and tele-care data. The majority of information in the guide relates to the built environment.
