NHS England reveal successful bids for healthy new towns status

Lois Beech 01/03/16 Built environment

The initiative will deliver 76,000 new homes for around 170,000 residents and will be used as exemplars for how the design of the built environment can be married with innovative health and care services. The locations were chosen from 114 bids submitted by local authorities, housing associations, developers and NHS organisations and assessed by a group of industry experts. The ten successful bids were received from:

•Whitehill and Bordon, Hampshire
•Darlington
•Cranbrook, Devon
•Ebbsfleet Garden City, Kent
•Barking Riverside
•Bicester, Oxfordshire
•Northstowe, Cambridgeshire
•Whyndyke Farm in Fylde, Lancashire
•Barton Park, Oxford
•Halton Lea, Runcorn
