The Scottish Federation of Housing Associations appoints new chair of its Independent Living Forum

Scottish Federation of Housing Associations

The Scottish Federation of Housing Associations (SFHA) held a roundtable this week on housing and independent living to explore how housing can support independent living for older and disabled people.

The session explored the challenges, opportunities, and policy changes needed to deliver accessible, adaptable homes that meet changing needs across Scotland.

We were joined by Professor Vikki McCall from Stirling University and Inclusive Living Alliance (ILA) founder, who questioned:

  • How we respond to the housing needs of an ageing population and rising levels of disability
  • What solutions the sector can offer – and what’s holding us back
  • Supporting accessibility, adaptability, and technology-enabled care
  • The needs of both specialist and mainstream housing providers
  • Who else we need to hear from to influence change
  • What SFHA should call for ahead of the next Scottish Parliament election

To coincide, Debbie Collins, CEO of Bield Housing and a Housing LIN Scotland sponsor, has been appointed chair of SFHA’s Independent Living Forum. The Housing LIN is proud to be a Forum member.
