The Almshouse Association celebrates its 80th anniversary

Our CEO, Jeremy Porteus, was honoured to be invited to attend yesterday’s evensong at Southwark Cathedral to mark the 80th anniversary of The Almshouse Association.

Formed in the aftermath of WWII at the cathedral to better coordinate and address the pressing need to improve the housing choices of many older people living in poverty or in poor housing conditions, the founding values - along with centuries old traditions - still hold firm in this day and age.
