We are delighted to announce that the Housing LIN will be organising a new Inquiry, funded by the Dunhill Medical Trust, called TAPPI – Technology for our Ageing Population: Panel for Innovation – and due to report in May 2021.

Chaired by Professor Roy Sandbach, the former Director of the National Innovation Centre for Ageing, the six month long TAPPI Inquiry will follow in HAPPI’s ‘care ready’ footsteps and engage with thought leaders, leading researchers, policy makers and practitioners over the coming months in a series of virtual hearings and visits, to develop review latest sector innovations and develop a benchmark for what ‘good’ looks like in technology for housing and care for an ageing population.

Dunhill Medical Trust’s executive director, Susan Kay, said:

"We are delighted to support this Inquiry. We continue to invest in pioneering research and projects that will have tangible benefits for our ageing population. Developing suitable homes and living environments is a core theme of our new strategy and the deployment of useful technology is becoming an increasingly urgent priority."

Professor Roy Sandbach, chair of the TAPPI Inquiry said:

“TAPPI is about listening, gaining insights and creating a set of overarching principles that can build robust evidence to inform an innovative new framework for all stakeholders to refer to in the context of how technology can transform the landscape of everyday living environments for older and disabled people."

The Housing LIN’s Jeremy Porteus added:

“We want to see the TAPPI principles become the sector benchmark for what good likes in the deployment of technology for ageing just as the HAPPI principles have done for design."

The TAPPI Inquiry will commence in January 2021.

Watch out for further information about the TAPPI Inquiry, including its own designated webpage on the Housing LIN ‘Design Hub’ next month where we will share further information about the Inquiry, including its Terms of Reference and details of the Panel for Innovation membership.
