Social care provider resilience during COVID-19: guidance to commissioners

This guidance note from ADASS is in its first iteration and highlights their key pieces of advice to local authority commissioners - it contains vital information about how they can maintain the provision of home care and support and promote their own financial and operational resilience.

It will also be relevant for housing with care providers where planned care is commissioned by local authorities or self funded by residents.

Some of the key suggestions are for maintaining high standards for the commissioners:

  • Collaboration and communication methods - to raise issues with each other faster and collaborate on problems
  • Infection Control plans - to ensure that home care services are running in clean, and infection-free, environments
  • Business Continuity Plans - to promote their own resilience and ability to recover afterwards.
